Waves on the Horizon
The main news is that there’s no news - yet. but when there is, it’ll be here - plus the newsletter (which will only ever be an occasional thing).
As for what’s coming up - well, two new show profiles should arrive soonish - the first for beloved space comedy Stella Firma. The interview will have a particular emphasis on improv and podcasting.
Then, it’ll be Shadows at the Door - who I’ll talk to about adapting classic (out of copyright) texts and being one of the few current scripted podcasts from the North of England. On which note - if you are a scripted podcast in the North - get in touch - the region’s really under-represented, right now.
There’s also a host of talks with contributors to the shows already onsite that I haven’t found time to edit and format yet. But they’re on the way!
I’m also working on expanding the Further Resources section of the site with more practical info. That said, much of the basic tech advice about recording podcasts can be found across the web - from room treatment to mic technique, noise reduction and vocal processing software.
What I want to build here is a database of how all that stuff connects specifically to making the unreal scenes of fiction - rather than simply capturing reality. It’ll be an ongoing process.
